Farmington Police Seek Home Invasion Suspect
Police suggest residents replace older doors with more secure ones.

The following was submitted by the Farmington Department of Public Safety:
Farmington Public Safety officers were called to a residence on the 33200 block of Shiawassee St. near Warner St on a reported home invasion June 20. It is believed that the incident occurred during the daytime, possibly around 3:30 p.m.. However, the incident was not reported until 9 p.m..
The details of the incident are as follows:
A resident arrived to the home at approximately 3:30 p.m. The resident was on the first floor of the home when noises were heard coming from the second floor. The resident went upstairs to investigate, but found nothing out of the ordinary. The resident then left the home.
A short time later, another resident of the home arrived and noticed damage to a rear door. Specifically, some of the door hardware from the strike plate was on the floor. The resident dismissed this as faulty equipment as the door was very old.
Several hours later, another resident of the home arrived and noticed that an I-Pad and a jar of coins was missing from a table top. The residents then realized that they were victims of a home invasion and called police.
Currently, there are no suspects in this incident. Farmington investigators are working with investigators form other departments who may be investigating similar incidents. Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Det. Shane Wash at 248-474-5500, ext:2246 immediately.
The Farmington Public Safety Department reminds residents to call IMMEDIATELY to report any suspicious persons, vehicles or situations in your neighborhood. This incident is particularly concerning because it appears that the suspects may have been hiding inside the home when one of the residents arrived.
The Farmington Public Safety Department encourages residents who may find themselves in similar circumstances to leave the home safely and quietly and call for help immediately.
In addition, the Farmington Public Safety Department encourages residents to replace older wooden doors with steel doors as they are much more secure.
