Festival of the Arts Seeks Artists, Performers for Farmington HIlls Event

This year's theme, "Color the World," has been chosen to add a multicultural element to the annual event, organizers say.

The annual Festival of the Arts is seeking artists and performers to volunteer to help at the free family festival, to be held on April 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Costick Center in Farmington Hills.

The Festival of the Arts 2013 theme, “Color the World,” has been chosen to add a multicultural element to the annual event. The planning committee invites anyone who would like to share their heritage to apply to either give a performance, demonstrate a visual or musical art form, or show children how to make a hands-on craft that will reflect their native origin. Performances will be 15 to 30 minutes in duration.

The free family festival is part of the three-day Festival of the Arts, which is presented by the City of Farmington Hills Cultural Arts Division, in cooperation with the Farmington Community Arts Council, Farmington Public Schools, and the Farmington Art Foundation. The event has been featured as a showcase program at the Michigan Municipal League’s annual conference, and has also been presented with an “Innovative Program” award by the Michigan Recreation and Park Association.
