Fuad Sheena will undergo a psychiatric evaluation determine his competency to stand trial.

Fuad Sheena was ordered Friday to undergo a forensic examination for competency and responsibility in connection with the Nov. 23 hammer attacks on his parents and sister at their Farmington Hills home.

Judge Marla Parker said the preliminary exam for Sheena, 33, of Farmington Hills, who faces three counts of assault with intent to commit murder, would be scheduled when the forensic exam is complete.

She scheduled an administrative review in 30 days."I don't know if we'd have a report by then because of the holiday," she said.

Sheena's attorney, Robert J. Adams, urged Parker to keep the January date. He said it would put "a little pressure" on the Ann Arbor-based Center for Forensic Psychiatry to submit the report.

Sheena remains in custody on $500,000 bond.
