Hills Fire Department Wins Federal Grant

U.S. Senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow announce the $22,720 award.

U.S. Sens. Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow, both D-Mich., today announced the is one of 20 fire departments in Michigan awarded more than $1.6 million in federal grants.

The department received $22,720.

The funds come through the Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The funding will be used to help address a variety of equipment, training, staffing and other firefighter-related and EMS needs.

“These federal dollars will help purchase the firefighting vehicles and personal protective equipment that Michigan’s firefighters and first responders need to do their jobs safely and effectively,” said Levin. “Communities throughout Michigan depend on the protection our firefighters provide, and this funding will help them prepare for the dangers they face on a daily basis.”

“Michigan’s firefighters provide invaluable, courageous service to communities across our state,” Stabenow said. “These grants will help fund the best training and equipment they need to perform their duties safely.”
