Know a Farmington Public Schools Teacher Who Has Heart and Soul?
Nominations for the seventh annual Judy White-Ora award close March 28.

If you know a Farmington Public Schools teacher who ignites the joy of learning, nominate him or her for the seventh annual Judy White-Ora "Teaching with Heart and Soul" Award.
This recognition program honors former Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum Judy White-Ora, who dedicated her life to the pursuit of excellence in education. According to the district's website, White-Ora died of cancer on Jan. 9, 2006, after spending two decades working with teachers in Farmington Schools.
Her "Teaching with Heart and Soul" pledge was created to inspire teachers to reach out to kids in unique and creative ways. The nominee for the award must exemplify the six steps of her pledge:

1. Respects the uniqueness of each child.
2. Ignites the joy of learning.
3. Listens to the child's voice
4. Puts human connections first.
5. Encourages the spirit of each child and lets their light shine.
6. Creates a caring environment.
Nominees must be teachers with at least three years of teaching experience, and must be members of the Farmington Education Association (FEA). Nomination forms can be found on the District's web site. The deadline for submissions is March 28. For information, call 248-489-3349.
