Lung cancer support group in Farmington Hills

Being diagnosed with lung cancer is a tough time for many people. Even if you have good support from friends and family, it may be helpful to connect with others who can understand your situation in a personal way. You may find it hard to reach out to others. You are not alone. The experience of talking with others face-to-face can be the best way to connect. Because of the stigma associated with lung cancer, some people feel most comfortable in a group with other lung cancer survivors. That’s why 2014 Hour Detroit Top Doc David Sternberg, M.D., a minimally invasive thoracic surgeon and member of Botsford Cancer Center’s lung cancer team, leads an informal support group for lung cancer patients. Come to the next meeting: 6-7:30 p.m., Monday, October 20. The group meets on the third Monday of each month. Open to anyone living with lung cancer and their loved ones; you don’t have to be a Botsford patient to attend. Each meeting features a guest speaker. Cost: FREE.
