Maintenance Help Available for Low-Income Homeowners

Rebuilding Together Oakland County will hold its 2016 Work Day in Farmington Hills. Applications are due by the end of January.

FARMINGTON HIlls, MI – A program that helps low-income homeowners make repairs they can’t afford or are physically unable to do themselves is seeking applications in Farmington Hills for the 2016 work day.

Rebuilding Together Oakland County said in a news release that renovations have included replacing windows, removing trip hazards, installing grab bars in bathrooms, making bathroom modifications for the disabled, upgrading kitchens, painting, yard cleanup and landscaping. Rebuilding Together Oakland County provides these services to low-income homeowners throughout Oakland County.

To qualify, low-income applicants must own their home and be current on mortgage payments, homeowners insurance and taxes. To qualify, a homeowner must:

  • Meet low-income level guidelines (average $1,975 per month for a one-person household or $2,258 per month for a two-person household);
  • Plan to be in home for at least two years; and
  • Be unable physically and financially to complete the requested repairs.

Applications are due by the end of January.
