FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – A mother of three is behind bars after allegedly wrecking her car, ditching her kids and taking off in a vehicle belonging to a driver who had stopped to help with the accident she had just caused — and then crashing his car in a spectacular conclusion to a pair of wild police chases earlier this week, authorities said.

Ashley Dorsey, 27, of Detroit, took off when a Farmington Hills police officer returned to his vehicle after pulling her over in a traffic stop at Eight Mile and Newberry about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, the Detroit Free Press and WJBK-TV report.

Police officers from Farmington and Livonia, which provided backup, chased Dorsey as she sped down Newberry for about half a mile, then called off the chase because Dorsey was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed.

Officers were nearby for accident No. 1, a four-vehicle pile-up at Seven Mile and Newberry that police allege Dorsey caused.
