Oakland Co. Man Dies In Motorcycle Crash After Hitting A Deer: Police

Police said the motorcyclist lost control of the bike and smashed into an oncoming SUV after hitting a deer.

COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, MI — A motorcyclist died Saturday when he smashed into an oncoming SUV after hitting a deer in Commerce Township, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said.

Lucas Dreven Nash, 20, was driving a 2010 Yamaha R6 motorcycle southbound on Harvey Lake Road, just south of Wardlow Road at 6:47 p.m. when he hit a deer, causing him to lose control of the motorcycle, the sheriff's office said.

Nash then crossed over the road's centerline into the northbound lanes when he smashed into a 2017 Ford Escape, the sheriff's office said.

Nash was wearing a helmet when the crash happened and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries, the sheriff's office said.

The 25-year-old Holly resident driving the Ford Escape was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries in the crash, the sheriff's office said. She was not taken to a hospital.
