Gunman Breaks Into Oakland County Rabbi's Home And Demands 'Everything': Police

Police did not report any injuries in the incident.

SOUTHFIELD, MI — Police are looking for a gunman who broke into a rabbi's home in Oakland County Wednesday night, according to police.

The incident happened at 10:30 p.m. at a home on Hilton Street, near 10 Mile and Greenfield roads in Southfield, according to police.

The rabbi was hosting dinner with a group of University of Michigan students to celebrate the Jewish holy holiday of Rosh Hashanah when the gunman broke into the home, according to university officials.

Investigators believe the gunman entered the home through the backdoor and said, "I’m taking everything, give me everything."

Police said the gunman took a bag before running out of the home.

Police said the gunman did not fire any shots and there were no injuries in the home invasion.

Investigators believe the gunman is in his late teens or early 20s.

Investigators also learned that a woman was involved in the incident and was arrested. They did not say how she was involved and no other information about her was released.

Police were still looking for the gunman and still investigating the home invasion, which they called a "crime of opportunity."

Wednesday evening marked the beginning of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year.

"This past year, there have been innumerable events locally and globally that have felt overwhelming and unsettling to many in our community," University of Michigan President Santa Ono wrote. "As tensions in the Middle East have escalated in recent days, it is more important than ever that we work collectively to offer solace and safety to one another."
