Oakland County Barricaded Gunman Charged In Standoff With Police
Police said the gunman fired multiple shots at officers during the standoff last weekend.
FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — A man who was wounded after firing shots at officers last weekend during a standoff in Oakland County has been charged, according to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office.
Dejuan Patrick Evans, 32, was charged with three counts of assault with intent to murder, a count of firearm possession by a prohibited person, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, six counts of using a firearm during the commission of a felony-second offense and a count of domestic violence.
He faces up to life in prison if convicted on the assault with intent to murder charge.

The incident happened Sunday at a home in the area of Middlebelt and 12 Mile roads in Farmington Hills after a woman fled the home during an argument with Evans, according to the sheriff's office.
When officers tried talking Evans, he fired shots at them with an Ak-style rifle and locked himself inside the home, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators learned there were two children (whom belong to the woman) inside the home where they locked themselves in an upstairs room, according to the sheriff's office.
The children managed to escape the home, according to the sheriff's office.
Shortly later, Evans opened the home's door and fire more shots at officers, according to the sheriff's office.
The rounds struck multiple police cruisers and nearby homes, according to the sheriff's office.
A SWAT team sniper then struck the man with a single shot, according to the sheriff's office.
Officials took the man to a nearby hospital where his condition was not known, according to the sheriff's office.
Officials did not report any other injuries in the incident.
"Law enforcement rushed into imminent danger, putting their own lives on the line, to save the lives of the victim and her children," Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said in a statement. "I commend the quick thinking of law enforcement in bringing this extremely dangerous situation to an end. My office’s top priority is public safety, and we will prosecute individuals who threaten the safety of our community and the lives of others, including children and law enforcement officers, to the fullest extent of the law."
