Oakland County Girl, 14, Stabbed By Man For Refusing Sex: Sheriff
Oakland County Officials said the teen girl met the man from Illinois through social media website.
SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI — An Oakland County girl was stabbed multiple times Wednesday morning after she refused to have sex with a man she met online, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said.
The teen girl, who officials did not name, was in critical but stable condition at a nearby hospital, officials said. She was scheduled to undergo surgery Wednesday morning.
An 18-year-old man from Illinois was arrested in connection to the stabbing, officials said. He was placed in the Oakland County Jail as prosecutors seek attempted murder charges against him.

Police said the teen stabbed the young girl multiple times with an 8-inch knife at home on the 6000 block of N. Bay in Springfield Township at 12:11 a.m. when she refused to have sex with him, officials said.
The parents were not home in the residence and a younger sibling was sleeping in the home when the man attacked the girl, officials said.

Despite her injuries, the girl called her parents and they called police, who found her lying on the floor with stab wounds in the back and mid-section, officials said.
Police rushed her to the hospital, where she was listed in critical but stable condition, officials said.
The suspect was arrested early Wednesday after running away from the home and calling 911 himself, officials said. He spoke with Waterford Township police, who responded to his location and arrested him.
The man admitted to officials that he was angry with the girl for not having sex with him and therefore attacked her with the 8-inch knife that he purchased on Tuesday in White Lake Township, officials said.
The young girl told police she met the man from Monmouth, Illinois through a social media website and planned to meet up, officials said.
"Meeting in person with people you have met online can be extremely dangerous," Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. "You have no idea of who that person really is or their motivation. Anytime you meet someone via the internet, it is always a very good idea to do so in a public setting and preferably have someone else with you."
"Do not share personal information like where you live or other items that will allow a person to locate or track you, he added. "In this situation, this was a juvenile and for so many reasons meeting someone in person is a dangerous choice, and we always discourage it."
