The video shows the man, who identified himself as David, opening the Petco box.
βSo, weβve got a fatty little mouse over here,β he said. βWanna die?β
He joked about the importance of wearing safety goggles, then zapped the creature three times. At the end, he held the dead mouse by the tail and said, βNow the mouse is no more.β
Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard told WJBK-TV the video was βdisgusting.β
The case has been forwarded to the Oakland County Prosecutorβs Office, which could file charges for animal cruelty and possession of a stun gun-type device. The weapon was confiscated.
βThe thing that was really disturbing was that it was 100 percent for pleasure,β Cooper told the Free Press. βToday itβs a mouse, tomorrow a squirrel ... Who knows what he could graduate to next. We definitely wanted to send a message that it wonβt be tolerated and itβs not funny. We hope this young man learns his lesson.β
The man is also out of a job. After the video was circulated, he was fired from his job at the Glory Grocery Store, where he was a bagger. He was wearing a shirt with the store logo on it and shot the video in the storeβs parking lot, when the video was shot.
