Police Ask Public's Help to Find Suspect in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Victim died of injuries Thursday at Beaumont Hospital – Farmington Hills.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – The victim in an April 23 hit-and-run accident in Farmington Hills died Thursday, and prosecutors have issued two-count warrant charging the man they think is responsible with felony and misdemeanor charges.

Romonia Edwards, 22, of Detroit, died of her injuries at Beaumont Hospital-Farmington Hills, the Farmington Hills Police Department said in a statement.

On Wednesday, the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office issued a two count warrant for Terrel Dewhite Johnson, 24, of Romulus, and are seeking the public’s help in locating him.

  • Failure to stop at scene of accident resulting in serious impairment or death, a felony with a possible penalty of five years and a $5,000 fine; and
  • Operating – license suspended, revoked, denied/allowing suspended person to operate –second or subsequent offense notice, a misdemeanor with a possible penalty of one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Anyone with information about Johnson’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Farmington Hills Police Department Command Desk at (248) 871-2610 with any information. Johnson is 6 feet tall, weighs 150 pounds, has brown hair and eyes, and is known to frequent the southwest area of Detroit, police said.

Police said Edwards was struck and run over about 5:20 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, in the area of eastbound Grand River Avenue north of Eight Mile Road.

The suspect was driving a newer model red or maroon Chrysler Town and Country that continued eastbound on Grand River Avenue after striking Edwards, police said. The vehicle didn’t have a metal registration plate and had a temporary registration plate in the back window.
