Sentencing in Fatal Sucker Punch is Feb. 11
Charges were upgraded against Dante Nederveld, who is already serving time on a third-offense drunken driving charge, after the victim died.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – Sentencing has been set for Feb. 11 for the Farmington Hills man whose sucker punch ended his neighbor’s life last fall after a fight at a mobile home park.
Dante Nederveld, 37, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on Jan. 15. He could be sent to prison for up to 15 years and fined $7,500.

Nederveld was originally charged with aggravated assault, but the charges were upgraded to involuntary manslaughter after the victim, Matthew Lee Wegyn, 52, died on Sept. 3.

While police were interviewing the victims and others at the scene, Nederveld appeared from behind and allegedly his Wegyn in the face once, causing him to fall backward and hit his head on the pavement, police said.
The Farmington Observer reported that Nederveld is already serving an 8-month to five-year prison sentence in Jackson County on a drunken driving charge in October.
