FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — Spectrum Orchestra is asking people to donate their band and orchestra instruments to support the Detroit Harmony's instrument drive, which aims to provide every Detroit student an instrument.

The Orchestra is collecting the new or used equipment at the Farmhouse Coffee and Ice Cream at 29936 West 12 Mile Road on Saturday, Oct. 16, 23 and 30 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The initiative hopes to strengthen Detroit's music opportunities, while also creating new economic opportunities for technicians, music educators and teaching artists.

"It brings camaraderie and cooperation, discipline and pride — and especially joy. In supporting Detroit Harmony we want to help reinvigorate the rich tradition of classical music in Detroit, but more importantly we want to change lives. Music can do that," she added.
