Striking Pipefitters Picket Farmington Business

Workers have been walking the line in front of Danboise Mechanical on Grand River.

On strike since July 10, the Detroit Pipefitters, Steamfitters, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Service Local Union 636 began picketing a Farmington business this week.

Workers walked a picket line in front of Danboise Mechanical at Grand River and Orchard Lake on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Their dispute is with Mechanical Contractors Association of Detroit (MCA Detroit), which negotiates with unions on behalf of mechanical and plumbing contractors in southeast Michigan.

Danboise Mechanical is a member of MCA. The group has also picketed MCA headquarters on Eight Mile in Detroit and other member businesses. According to a press release issued in July by MCA, the dispute is over wages and benefits.
