The Third Annual Search for Michigan's Best Teachers Begins
Team Schostak Family Restaurants and Applebee's to give all teachers 30 percent off meals during the week of May 6-10
TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants (TSFR), a Michigan-based family-owned restaurant group with an expansive portfolio of casual, quick service and family dining restaurants throughout the state, and its 65 Applebeeβs restaurants have launched its third annual statewide search for Michiganβs best teachers in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, held this year from Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 10.
Nationally celebrated during the first full week of May, Teacher Appreciation Week recognizes the hard work and positive impact teachers have on local students, families and communities. TSFR and its Applebeeβs restaurants are seeking community members to nominate local teachers who have continually served as great role models and encouraged a positive learning environment. Five winners will each be awarded an βApplebeeβs Teacher of the Yearβ certificate, an engraved award, a $500 Visa Gift Card and a VIP Teacher Appreciation Card good for 20% off their food at Applebeeβs for a full year.
All teachers working in school districts within 10 miles of TSFR and its 65 Michigan Applebeeβs are eligible to win. Those interested in nominating a teacher must fill out a form, complete with the nominatorβs name, the nominated teacherβs name and school, contact information and 1500 characters or fewer explaining why the teacher should be selected as an Applebeeβs Teacher of the Year. The nomination should include a specific example(s) of how they have stood out as an exceptional, inspiring person in their school district/community. Nominators can access the form here: http://bit.ly/ApplebeesTeacher19. Nominations will be accepted Wednesday, May 1 through Friday, May 10.

βTeachers in our communities spend countless hours going above and beyond to ensure their students succeed not only within the classroom, but outside the classroom as well,β said TSFR Applebeeβs Vice President of Operations John Andrews. βTheir every day acts can oftentimes go unnoticed, but it is our goal to shine a light on these local heroes. If a teacher has left an impact on you or you know a teacher that has fostered a strong connection with their students, we want to hear about it and have the chance to celebrate them.β
In addition to the Applebeeβs Teacher of the Year Awards, TSFR will also be offering all teachers 30 percent off their meals at all of its Michigan Applebeeβs locations throughout the week of May 6-10. To receive this special offer, teachers may be asked to show a valid proof of employment, including a school badge or a valid teacherβs license/certificate.
