Victorian Lace to Close After 21 Years in Downtown Farmington
Company owner Sandi Burchart will leave The Village Mall in February.
As you walk in the lace-curtained door of , you quickly step into what seems like another world.
The downtown Farmington business has evolved over the past 21 years. With its lovely lace products, ceramic angels and even Webkinz, itโs hard to see how a store so unique could ever close its doors. But in a few months, that's exactly what will happen.
Owner and founder of Victorian Lace Elegance, Sandi Burchart, has watched her business flourish and develop over two decades. When she first opened her doors in 1990, she quickly learned valuable lessons in business and customer service.ย

โI like the old-fashioned, general store type of feel to my store,โ Burchart said.
But as sales spiralled downward in recent years, Burchart made the tough decision to close when her lease is up in Feb. 2012. When she announced in June she would be closing, Burchart was overwhelmed by the community response.

โAt this year's Founders Festival, I had my best sales ever,โ Burchart said. โSo many people have come in (since the closing was announced).โ
While one might think a quiet retirement would be on the table after so many years in business, with five children and 18 grandchildren, Burchart says she wonโt stay put for long.
โI love people. I love what I do and I wonโt sit at home. Iโll spend time with my family and being involved,โ she said.
As the serene shop comes to a close in February, Burchart reflects on her exceptional 21 years of business in the Farmington community.
โI enjoy people, and at least I had fun doing it,โ she said.
