OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — A Flint woman is facing charges after working as a nurse at three Oakland County facilities without a license, according to the Michigan Attorney General's Office.
Cassandra Alvera Gilleylen, 52, was charged with 30 counts of the unauthorized practice of a health profession (4-year felony) and three counts of identity theft (a 5-year felony). She was granted a $75,000 personal recognizance bond and her next court date is scheduled for June 4.

Investigators determined Gilleylen worked under the name of Cassandra Alvera Bowens as a registered nurse at Mission Point of Clarkston, Mission Point of Holly and Wellbridge of Clarkston from Sept. 24, 2023 until March 5, 2024, officials said.
In addition to the lack of a proper license, Gilleylen also lacked the proper educational background to be a registered nurse, officials said.

"Licenses to practice as a health care professional exist primarily to protect people from harm," Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said. "Schemes to avoid licensing requirements are dangerous, and my department takes them very seriously."
