Atonement

Talking 'bout some painting and the color green.

I figured I would spend this blog atoning for the sins against my own style I committed in the last blog according to my wife.  She's a prickly pear, that one - a real opuntia.

VIP night is coming up soon and we're excited because Grannie Annie will be coming to check out Lilah's artwork, but we had to convince Lilah this morning that, in order for that to happen, she had to make at least some artwork (one, preferably two pieces.)  Luckily, the teachers seem to stay on top of this and Lilah did her splatter painting today (like Jackson Pollock or Ed Harris depending on if you've seen the film.)  I didn't see which one of the splatter paintings was Lilah's, but the four from today looked pretty cool so it's a fair assumption that Lilah's is made of sauce with an awesome base (aka awesome sauce.)

Today was also "green" day which meant the kids had to wear something green and bring in a green picture.  For her green clothing, Lilah picked out an old tank top of hers that I wasn't afraid of her getting paint all over.  I was going to have her wear a sweater with the shirt, but she was refusing to remove it already this morning and it was too nice for me to want it covered in paint.  In light of that, we went without it today and, though I asked several times, she assured me she wasn't chilly (even though she has about as much tolerance for cold as her mama - that is to say none.)  For her picture, I gave Lilah the choice of a green parrot, clover, and Oscar the grouch.  She chose to put the parrot in the color book and then ask me continuously where the other two pictures had wandered off to.  They had found their way into my coat pocket, but I convinced her they had gone walk-about and wouldn't be coming back any time soon, at least not until they found the answers they were looking for in the outback of Australia because that's where one goes walk-about.  Lilah thought I was crazy and, ya know, who am I to argue?

Next week, the fun shall continue and hopefully I won't lose my writing voice again or else that opuntia who calls herself my biggest fan (har har) will be on me again about how my blog seemed "ghost written."
