Genesee County teen summer job program receives $100,000 (midmichigannow.com) — A $100,000 grant is boosting TeenQuest, a Flint & Genesee program that prepares Genesee County teens for summer jobs and connects them to employers. Open to students ages 14–19, TeenQuest teaches communication, goal-setting, and interview skills, then channels graduates into the Summer Youth Initiative job fair where hundreds land paid positions each year. 
2. Flint seeks more applicants to help guide the city's future (flintbeat.com) — Flint's Planning Commission is forming a 21-member Master Plan Steering Committee and still needs residents from all nine wards to help shape the city's next decade of development. Over the next 6–12 months, this group will guide updates to the Imagine Flint Comprehensive Plan and advise city leaders on long-term neighborhood and growth priorities.
3. Andrea Z. Floden Piano Practice Room Dedication (businessdailynetwork.com) — Flint residents are invited to honor longtime pianist and teacher Andrea Zlatec Floden at the dedication of a piano practice room in her name at Mott Community College. The event, recognizing her decades with Mott, the Flint Institute of Music, and the Flint Symphony Orchestra, will be held Sept. 23 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Mott Memorial Building.
4. Federal Pell Grants now available for short-term trade programs like HVAC and welding (midmichigannow.com) — Students in Flint can now use new Workforce Pell Grants for short-term trade programs at Mott Community College, covering fields like HVAC, welding, and electrical work. College leaders say the change lets residents train in 8–15 weeks for solid, better-paying jobs while keeping student debt low, and they're awaiting state approval of seven submitted programs.
