Paint the Town Green campaign to highlight Flint youth mentor need (mlive.com) — Flint & Genesee residents are being asked to literally turn the community green this September to spotlight the urgent need for youth mentors. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint & Genesee County's Paint the Town Green campaign runs Sept. 14–18, encouraging green decorations, clothing, and lighting. More than 200 local young people are waiting for mentors, and sign-up details are provided.
   

2. Suspect Vehicle Impounded from Flint Hit and Run Investigation (abc12.com) — Flint police have impounded the Corvette suspected in an Aug. 9 hit-and-run on James P. Cole Boulevard that left a pedestrian in critical but stable condition. Investigators are processing evidence and surveillance video and are asking anyone who was in the Oregon-to-Alabama avenues area around 2:17 a.m. to contact the Traffic Bureau with information.
   

3. Former USC track champion wins Michigan Mile for first time since 2019 (mlive.com) — A Flint native has reclaimed the Michigan Mile title as the HAP Crim Festival of Races kicks off in downtown Flint, drawing nearly 620 runners to the city streets. Jack Carter, a Carman-Ainsworth alum and former USC track standout, won in 4:33 and shared encouragement for locals gearing up for today's Crim races. His story highlights Flint's strong running community and youth talent.
   

4. Rx Kids expansion to 60 Michigan communities is balancing family budgets and birthing healthier babies (secondwavemedia.com) — Flint's pioneering Rx Kids cash program is showing measurable health gains for local babies, including fewer preterm and low birthweight births and better prenatal care. Now expanded to more than 60 communities, the initiative still highlights Flint as the proof point that trusting parents with flexible cash can stabilize families during pregnancy and a child's first year.
