Speakers emphasize practical software architecture, real-world AI use, and community-building through hallway conversations and workshops, inviting local developers, product owners, and creatives to plug into a welcoming, high-quality conference scene.
   

2. Detroit news director exits after less than a year on the job (newscaststudio.com) — A TV news leader with recent ties to Grand Rapids media is on the move again. Brooks Blanton, who previously served as news director at WZZM 13 On Your Side in Grand Rapids, is stepping down from his role leading Fox 2's Detroit newsroom after less than a year, as the station launches a search for his replacement.

Triumph Announce Second Leg Of Rock & Roll Machine Reloaded Tour (rttnews.com) — Canadian rock band Triumph is adding a second U.S. leg to their Rock & Roll Machine Reloaded Tour, kicking off the new dates in Grand Rapids on November 17. The 50th anniversary run includes 16 shows nationwide, with April Wine as special guest and a portion of ticket sales supporting the SoundsUnite charity.
   

4. Meta agrees to pay Michigan $171 million for role in teen social media addiction (fox17online.com) — Michigan's attorney general, speaking from Grand Rapids, has secured a $171 million settlement from Meta that will force Instagram and Facebook to add strict time limits, nighttime blocks, and stronger parental controls for young users. A Pine Rest pediatric behavioral health expert in Grand Rapids says the changes address real harms she sees in local teens tied to social media use.
