Fuller Avenue neighbor calls on Grand Rapids to redesign road to slow traffic, improve safety (fox17online.com) — A longtime Fulton Heights resident is urging Grand Rapids to redesign Fuller Avenue between Michigan and Fulton to slow speeding traffic and protect pedestrians. She's pushing for narrower lanes, wider sidewalks, and bike lanes after years of dangerous crashes, while the city points to recent safety upgrades and says more work on a safer street network is underway.
   

2. Grand Rapids church continues mission after fire (woodtv.com subscription) — A major fire destroyed one building at LaGrave Avenue Christian Reformed Church, but leaders say their long-running outreach to unhoused neighbors in downtown Grand Rapids will continue without interruption. While investigators and insurers sort out next steps for the historic structure, the church is keeping its winter day program and monthly lunch, foot care, and hair care ministries going for those who rely on them.
   

3. After Four Decades, WLAV's Michelle McKormick Signs Off. (insideradio.com) — Longtime Grand Rapids radio personality Michelle McKormick has wrapped up her run on WLAV after more than four decades on local airwaves, including stints at WGRD, WOOD, and WJRW. She signed off August 28 after her position was eliminated, reminiscing with listeners and hinting she hopes to stay in broadcasting somewhere in West Michigan.
   

4. Triumph Makes Long-Awaited Return to Grand Rapids (wmmq.com) — Classic rock band Triumph is kicking off the next leg of its reunion tour at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids on November 17, 2026, with April Wine joining the bill. Band member Gil Moore shares memories of past West Michigan shows and promises an arena-ready production with lasers, revamped pyro, and a lineup that hasn't played Grand Rapids with Rik Emmett since the 1980s.
   

5. EGR parents pledge to delay smartphones and social media for more than 600 kids (fox17online.com) — Hundreds of East Grand Rapids families are banding together to delay smartphones until high school and social media until age 16 for more than 600 kids. Organizers say the shared pledge eases peer pressure, encourages real-world play around Gaslight Village, and may grow into a push for phone-free schools as children move into higher grades.
