Based on the author’s experience of traveling home to visit her parents in December 2011, the book is a story of parental loss, and how to lovingly, bravely, and gracefully let go of a hand you’ve been holding your entire life. The book opens at Beaumont Hospital, in Grosse Pointe, and closes on Christmas Eve night, with Lisa, her father, and sister, driving down Lake Shore Drive, just hours after her mother passed away, looking at the Christmas lights. “It was a tradition for us to drive down Lakeshore, and we wanted to honor that for my mom and her memory.”

Lisa’s uncle owned the former Manor Pharmacy on Mack in Grosse Pointe Woods, and her aunt still lives in the Woods. “I spent many summers at the Woods (Lakefront) Park, and in college, my entire circle of friends was from Grosse Pointe.”

Goich is an award-winning copywriter, major market talk radio host, blogger, journalist, and former stand-up comedian. She graduated from Central Michigan University, and has worked for some of the biggest names and corporations in the literary and entertainment business, including Mitch Albom, who wrote the foreword for the book, Robert Redford, and ABC.

As a talk radio host and product, Lisa has worked for KFI in Los Angeles, WJR in Detroit. She is currently senior project manager for the Jazz and Comedy genres of the Grammy Awards.

Her first book, The Breakup Diary, was published in 2002.

Lisa lives in Los Angeles with her husband, musician Teddy Andreadis (Guns ‘n’ Roses, Carole King, Alice Cooper), and their four rescue dogs. Along with her Maltese mix Angie, she works with with hospice patients and their families, helping to make their transitions to the other side a loving, bonding, and peaceful experience.
