Handyman, Heroin Addict Pleads Guilty to Second Degree Murder in Death of Interior Designer

(Posted Nov. 7, 2016) GROSSE POINTE FARMS, MI - David Corzilius, a Warren handyman charged in last spring's deadly attack on Grosse Pointe Farms interior designer Daniel Clancy, 69, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, WXYZ-TV reports. Clancy had just returned from shopping at Costco on March 6 when he was attacked at his home around 4:30 pm.

According to police, Corzilius demanded money from Clancy and then hit him in the face, bound his hands with duct tape and slashed his neck. Corzilius, 49, now faces 30 to 60 years in prison when he is sentenced on Nov. 22.

Corzilius, a reported heroin addict who also suffers from bipolar disorder, claimed in court that Clancy pulled a knife on him before he began to assault the interior designer.
