Inaugural Pistons and Plates Raises More Than $120,000 for Reggie Jackson’s DETermined to Assist Foundation
The funds raised at the event will support Literacy Lounges that will be placed in Title I schools in Detroit.
Detroit Pistons’ point guard Reggie Jackson welcomed more than 150 guests to the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel Monday, December 12 for his inaugural charity event “Pistons and Plates.” The event raised more than $120,000 for Reggie Jackson’s DETermined to Assist Foundation
“We’re here tonight to support literacy in Detroit’s inner city schools. I want to give back to the city that’s given me so much,” said Jackson. “With a good education these kids can grow up knowing that they can dream big, that they can be anything they want.”
The funds raised at the event will support community outreach programs of the DETermined to Assist Foundation, such as Reggie’s Literacy Lounges. These lounges, which will be placed in Title I schools in Detroit, will provide students with age appropriate books and a space designed to make reading fun. The foundation’s mission is to impact the lives of low-income children in Detroit by providing them educational opportunities and resources they otherwise wouldn’t have.
