The Sept. 19 festival will still feature music and peace-building activities while the city keeps Arcadia Creek closed as a precaution during further environmental assessment and cleanup.

Man allegedly searched for victim on Facebook 6 times before and after Kalamazoo shooting (wwmt.com) — A Kalamazoo man is being held without bond after investigators linked him to a July 11 fatal shooting outside Chicago Munchies through surveillance video, phone data, and alleged celebratory messages about the victim's death. Police say he searched the victim's Facebook profile multiple times before and after the shooting and is now headed for court hearings in September.

Kalamazoo food co-op dispute leads to fight, changed locks (woodtv.com) — A long-running governance fight at Kalamazoo's People's Food Co-op boiled over when the interim general manager and a member were involved in a physical struggle as a faction claiming to be the new board tried to change leadership. Locks were reportedly changed while shoppers continued browsing, and some owners say a large recall vote shows strong support for new management and more transparency.
