1. Could This Dutch Invention Help Tackle Plastic Pollution in America's Waterways? (smithsonianmag.com) — Lansing could soon host the nation's first "Bubble Barrier" in the Grand River, a submerged curtain of air bubbles designed to corral plastic trash for city crews to remove. City officials, state regulators, MSU researchers, and local partners are collaborating on permits, funding, and community input to ensure the system protects fish, recreation, and the Great Lakes while raising awareness about plastic pollution.

2. Is There a Serial Killer in Lansing, Michigan? What We Know About the River Trail Deaths (thenewstribune.com) — Lansing police are investigating whether five deaths of unhoused men along the Lansing River Trail since late 2025 are connected, but have not confirmed a serial killer. Lansing flower garden honors neighbor and supports horse competition goal (wilx.com) — A Lansing resident's first-year flower garden, created from her wedding bouquet and later dedicated to her late neighbor Katie, is wrapping up its season this weekend. 4. Local officials want more stability in state revenue-sharing funds (wkar.org) — Townships surrounding Lansing, including Delhi and Meridian, are warning that unstable state revenue-sharing dollars are making it harder to budget for basics like police, fire, parks, and infrastructure. Local officials back a proposed trust fund in the Legislature that would lock in a share of sales tax for communities, arguing it would protect services as overall township revenue-sharing is projected to drop next year.
