Recent victims, including 70-year-old Denis Dunnebacke, suffered severe head and spinal injuries, raising concerns about safety for unhoused residents and transparency around how these deaths are publicized.
   

• David Hollister's amazing run ends at 84 (lansingcitypulse.com) — Lansing is remembering former mayor and state lawmaker David Hollister, who died Sept. 22 at 84 after decades of shaping the city's politics, economy, and neighborhoods. From cleaning up the old "sin strip" and bringing the Lugnuts downtown to helping save GM jobs and mentoring leaders into his final years, his legacy still defines much of modern Lansing life.
   

• EPA Administrator Zeldin Highlights Historic Cleanup, Energy Infrastructure and PFAS Research with Representatives Huizenga and Barrett During Michigan Swing (epa.gov) — From a Lansing-based swing through Michigan, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin joined Reps. Bill Huizenga and Tom Barrett to spotlight Superfund cleanup on the Kalamazoo River, energy pipelines, and PFAS research at MSU. The visit emphasized Trump administration priorities on expanding energy infrastructure while funding PFAS cleanup and research that could affect water quality for communities across mid-Michigan.
