• Group working to get Lansing's truck-eating Big Penny 'smiling' once again (wlns.com) — Lansing's beloved "truck-eating" Big Penny bridge may soon get her trademark eyes and teeth back, as local prank group STUPID works with Canadian National Railroad and city officials on a safe restoration plan. After vandalism in April and railroad safety concerns halted earlier designs, the group is now exploring painted teeth, new post-mounted eyes, or even a 3D face to keep the landmark smiling.

• Hawk rescued after becoming caught in grille of a vehicle near Lansing (lansingstatejournal.com) — A red-tailed hawk was dramatically rescued after becoming trapped in a vehicle grille following a collision on northbound U.S. 127 near Lansing, with the driver eventually stopping in Okemos to call for help. Ingham County Animal Control, a volunteer from Wildside Rehabilitation & Education, and the driver all worked together to sedate and free the bird, which was taken to a rehab center for treatment.

• The British are coming again as Josh and Jase plan fall Michigan trip (woodtv.com) — Lansing just got an international shoutout as British influencers Josh and Jase highlighted stops like Big Penny, the Capitol and Steakhouse Philly Bar & Grill, capped by Mayor Andy Schor declaring July 28 "Josh and Jase Day." After falling for Michigan's winter and summer, they're already planning a fall return that will bring more attention to Lansing and the wider Mid-Michigan region.
