📰 News we're reading

• Rosso reroute starts for Selfridge's new mission (macombdaily.com) — Macomb County officials have kicked off a major reroute of Rosso Highway to clear space for Selfridge Air National Guard Base's new runway and incoming fighter jets. The billion‑dollar "Selfridge Mission Next" effort, heavily funded by federal and state dollars, will reshape traffic patterns near Harrison Township and underscores the base's long-term role in the county's economy.

• Port Huron man charged in Eastpointe motel stabbing (bluewaterhealthyliving.com) — Macomb County prosecutors have charged a 49-year-old Port Huron man with assault with intent to murder after a stranger was stabbed multiple times at Eastland Motel in Eastpointe. The victim survived, but the suspect faces a possible life sentence and a mandatory 25-year minimum as a habitual offender, with a preliminary exam set for later this month.

• Man bound over for second-degree murder in Clinton Twp. woman's shooting (macombdaily.com) — A Clinton Township man has been ordered to stand trial in Macomb County Circuit Court on second-degree murder and weapons charges in the January shooting death of 21-year-old Mya Selina Hicks. Prosecutors say the shooting followed a domestic argument at her 15 Mile Road home, and the defendant, already a prior felon, remains jailed on a $1 million bond.
