Michigan Superintendent of Education Mike Flanagan took the ALS “ice bucket challenge” Monday, using the occasion to wish the state’s 250,000 public school employees a happy Labor Day and to challenge residents of the state to become involved in education.

“Another challenge would be parents, and community and students – everyone – working to make a kid’s education better,” he said. “We’ll all be better off.”
