1. 2026 Macomb County Special Needs Expo for Families (metroparent.com) — Families in Macomb County raising children or adults with special needs can attend a free Special Needs Expo on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, at the Macomb Intermediate School District in Clinton Township. The event features more than 50 resource agencies plus kid-friendly activities like Touch a Truck, bounce houses, animals, entertainment, free food and books.
   

2. Lowest premium gas price in Macomb County hits $4.79 for week ending Aug. 15 (warrensun.com) — Premium gas in Macomb County bottomed out at $4.79 per gallon for the week ending Aug. 15, with an average of $5.48 across local stations. The piece compares those prices to statewide Michigan averages and explains how refinery outages and global oil tensions are pushing fuel costs higher.
   

3. Human case of West Nile virus detected in Michigan after blood donation (cbsnews.com) — West Nile virus has been detected in mosquito populations in Macomb County this year, putting local residents on alert even though the first human case surfaced in West Michigan via a blood donation. Health officials urge people here to use EPA-registered repellents, wear long sleeves and pants, and regularly dump standing water around homes to reduce mosquito breeding.
   

4. Warren teacher was being investigated by district before criminal charges dropped (wxyz.com) — Macomb County's prosecutor is pursuing serious child pornography and drug charges against a Warren Consolidated Schools drama teacher, whose conduct was already under internal district investigation. The teacher has been placed on leave, and school leaders are urging any current or former students with information to come forward while parents are advised to closely monitor their children's online activity.
