Sudden Braking Causes Two Hall Road Accidents

The two- and three-car accidents closed the far left lane of westbound Hall Road before North Avenue at around 1 p.m. today.

What appeared to be an accident involving five or more cars on westbound Hall Road near North Avenue at around 1 p.m. today was, in fact, two separate accidents involving two and three cars, respectively.

Capt. John Roberts of the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said the cause of both accidents was a driver braking suddenly and the cars behind being unable to stop in time.

Roberts said it is believed that the first accident, involving the three cars, caused the second accident as the sound of the crash startled one of the drivers in the two-car accident and caused that driver to brake suddenly.

No injuries resulted from the either accident and only one car had to be towed from the scene, as the airbags had deployed on impact.

At this point Roberts said no tickets have been issued.
