📰 News we're reading

• Woman receives probation, mental health counseling after threatening Mount Clemens mayor (macombdaily.com) — A Mount Clemens woman received two years' probation and mandatory mental health treatment after sending more than 100 threatening Facebook messages to Mayor Laura Kropp, a case handled through Macomb County courts and the sheriff's office. The sentence emphasizes counseling and medication rather than jail time, and Kropp says she hopes the outcome improves the woman's mental health while easing her own family's safety concerns.

• How many Asian students were enrolled in Macomb County districts in 2024-25? (warrensun.com) — Macomb County schools now enroll 7,471 Asian students, about 6.5% of the county's 115,358 students in 2024-25, with Warren Consolidated Schools having the largest share. The figures highlight how rapidly Asian enrollment is growing locally compared with other groups. Families can see how their own district compares as demographics shift across Macomb County classrooms.

• Warren teacher charged with possessing child porn and drugs (wxyz.com) — Macomb County's prosecutor has charged a Warren Consolidated Schools teacher with multiple counts tied to alleged child pornography and drug possession after a search of his home and phone. The educator, already facing a separate criminal sexual conduct case from Houghton Lake, is being held on a $1 million bond. Strict bond conditions would bar contact with minors and internet use if he's released.

  • I have discovered 4 kittens eating out of my cat food on my porch, I have been feeding a few feral in the neighborhood ( only 2 that I know of) and suddenly the other day I see the 4 kittens.
I try to open the door slowly to see if they are catchable but they move fast! So sad to see little ones. (Nextdoor Tilch-Haverhill)
