Unsilent Night

A holiday “electronic caroling party” created by Phil Kline in 1992 in New York, Unsilent Night uses Kline’s original music composition, in which the audience becomes the performer. Each person carries a boombox, with one of four tracks on it. The tracks,
which are meant to be played at the same time, create a mobile sound sculpture. Participants walk through the streets, bringing the 45 minute long composition to the public.
The Detroit performance of Unsilent Night will begin on Friday, December 9 at 7pm at 1515 Broadway in Detroit. Those interested in being a part of the performance are encouraged to bring a boombox capable of playing either a cassette tape or CD. Although equipment is not required for participation, the more boomboxes there are, the more vibrant the performance will be.
