5 Things to Know This Week

There is a lot going on this week. Here are some highlights:

Two township meetings this week:

• The Oakland Township Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at . The agenda includes the board considering a resolution to approve an interlocal agreement with Oakland County to provide recycling services for hazardous material to residents.
• The Parks and Recreation Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the building.

Two school board meetings this week:

• The Board of Education meeting begins at 7 p.m. today in the Harrison Room of the Administration Center. Among other items, the board will hear all day kindergarten recommendations for 2012-13.
• The Lake Orion Community Schools Board of Education meeting takes place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the administration building. Discussion items on the agenda include finance, curriculum and policies.

Oakland County Prosecutor at Lake Orion High School: Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper will be giving a presentation 6:30-9 p.m. today at about crimes and social consequences associated with technologies, with an emphasis on sexting.

Crosstown showdown: Adams and Rochester High School varsity basketball teams will meet on Oakland University's O'rena on Friday night. The evening starts with the varsity girls teams going head to head at 6 p.m., followed by the boys playing at 8 p.m. Tickets for the event cost $5 and will be sold at the arena box office Friday evening.
