5 Things to Know This Week

Here's what's happening in and around Oakland Township this week.

There is a lot going on this week in Oakland Township. Here are some highlights:

  1. : A mixture of rain and snow is in the forecast for a couple of days this week, according to the National Weather Service. Snow and rain are forecast for Monday, changing to with rain Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday are expected to be partly sunny, with the week ending on a cloudy note. Through Wednesday, lows for the day aren't expected to dip below 30 degrees, and Tuesday's temperatures will peak at a high of 45 degrees. By Friday, a high of 37 degrees is in the forecast, with a low of 24.
  2. Weekend events: The annual that was scheduled for this Saturday at Lost Lake Nature Park was canceled Friday after the Parks and Recreation Department reviewed this week's forecast. The Paint Creek Trail Snowfest scheduled for Saturday has also been canceled.
  3. Theater group meeting: The first informational meeting for a new community theater group, Great Lakes Community Players, will be held at the Orion Township Public Library from 4-5:30 p.m. Monday. The meeting is open to anyone wanting to take part in the group or give input, and free refreshments will be available for attendees. 
  4. At 7 p.m. Tuesday, the Rochester Hills Public Library will host a cybersafety class. The class put on by the Rochester Area Youth Assistance will teach teens how to keep their information safe online. To register, visit the library's website at rhpl.org
  5. Town hall meeting in Lake Orion: State Rep. Brad Jacobsen (R-46th District) is hosting a town hall meeting from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Lake Orion village offices, 37 E. Flint St. The meeting will revolve around possible solutions for transportation and road funding in Michigan.
