5 Things to Know This Week: Community Luncheon, Film Screening
Here's what's happening in and around Oakland Township this week.

There is a lot going on this week. Here are some highlights:
- Meetings: The Lake Orion Community Schools Board of Education will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday for a Policy Committee meeting at the school's administration building. Also at 7 p.m. Wednesday, the Oakland Township Parks and Recreation Commission will meet at the Paint Creek Cider Mill Building.
- Film screening at the library: There will be a screening of the film Amendment at the Rochester Hills Public Library at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Local filmmaker Tom Nahas produced the film, which was shot in Rochester, Mount Clemens and Holly.
- Community Outlook luncheon: The Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Oakland University. The topic of conversation will focus on how to succeed in 2012. Oakland Township Manager Jim Creech*, Rochester Mayor Stuart Bikson and Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan Barnett will speak at the event.
- Job fair: A job hub will take place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday at Oakland University. Dozens of employers will be on-site, hiring individuals with a variety of skills, though the job fair caters to Information Technology and engineering-related professionals.
- Last day to register: Thursday is the last day to register for the Parks and Recreation “Which Way Do I Go?” program at Lost Lake Nature Park. The program is scheduled from 4:30-6 p.m. Feb. 28. Attendees will learn to read a map and use a compass, then go on a snowshoe hike using the new skills they learned. Cost is $10 per student for resident and $12 for nonresidents.
