Michigan Legislature Seals Part Time
Role With Latest Proposal!
From the
same people who brought us helmet less motorcyclists which has increased
injuries 34% - and the relaxing of restrictions on the purchase of fireworks
which has resulted in hospitals treating more hand and eye injuries – we now
have a discussion underway to allow off-road vehicles to drive on the shoulders
of some roads in the state. As with these two previous bills, the brain trusts
in Lansing conclude that this new bill will increase tourist traffic. Evidently our pristine beaches, our numerous
state parks, our renowned wineries, and ports of call along Lake Michigan are
not a drawing card so we need to somehow attract off road four wheel
aficionados with the lure of driving their vehicles along a highway laden with
cars traveling at 70 miles per hour! If
this proposal doesn’t warrant placing our Lansing dunderheads on a part time basis,
I frankly don’t know what would! But be
prepared for one of these intelligentsia to propose that we also open up the
shoulders to motorized wheelchairs and lawnmowers! Can you say “part time
legislature”!
