Authors in April Scavenger Hunt Kicks-Off 30th Anniversary Celebration

Rochester and Rochester Hills students and parents are invited to participate in the free Authors in April Community Scavenger Hunt in downtown Rochester on Saturday, April 13, from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  The event will kick-off at the Rochester Hills Public Library.  Clues will lead scavenger hunt participants to various downtown businesses where they will find answers to questions about Authors in April books and authors. Trinkets will be given to kids along the way and all participants will be entered in a book basket raffle. The first 200 children to finish the scavenger hunt will also
receive a commemorative Authors in April button.  This event is free and a great way to celebrate 30 years of Authors in April.

Now in its 30th year, Authors in April is a yearlong effort on the part of Rochester community school and private school parents, educators, and the Rochester Hills Public Library to bring highly regarded children’s authors to all of the community’s elementary and middle school students.   It is the only program of this size and scope in the entire country.  Overseen by the non-profit Authors in April, Inc., the goal of Authors in April is to encourage students to become lifelong readers, improve their own creative writing ability, and develop greater appreciation, understanding and discernment for quality literature and art.
