On January 20th, Classic Lanes in Rochester Hills will host a fundraiser to support a local band on their journey to Memphis.  In August, The Deals won the junior competition, called the Youth Blues Challenge, sponsored by the Detroit Blues Society.  With their win comes the opportunity to compete on a national stage at various locations in Memphis in February.

The Deals, made up of Oxford residents John Bivens, Kyle Marker and Christian Brendel, was formed in 2009 while they were in high school and have evolved into a very tight and very good blues band.  As part of this competition, the Deals must perform traditional blues songs in their own way and style.  They will be competing against 18 other bands for the attention of some key players in the music business.

The January 20th fundraiser at Classic Lanes, located at 2145 Avon Industrial in Rochester Hills, will help this deserving group travel to Memphis to compete for time in front of agents and booking agents.  Show your support and come bowl and enjoy their music.  A $10 charge at the door will include three hours of bowling and live music by The Deals and Traces of Lime.  Shoes will be fifty cents.  Non-bowlers will be charged five dollars.  The fundraiser will run from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
