Police Blotter: Jewelry Stolen, Trampolines Damaged

Highlights from reports from the past week:

Jewelry stolen from home on Rochester Road

An Oakland Township woman returning home Monday afternoon reported jewelry missing from her home in the 1000 block of Rochester Road.

The woman contacted the Oakland Township Substation, saying she left her house around 10:45 a.m. on Monday, returning at 2:15 p.m. When she returned she noticed that two screens in her family room, located at the rear of the house, had been pushed up, however the windows were still closed, said the report. One of the windows was found to be unlocked, and the woman said the front door was unlocked after she had locked it when she left earlier, the report said.

The woman found that her jewelry boxes had been removed from her drawers and were out in the open perched on a chest, said a report. According to the report, a lot of jewelry, including her wedding ring, had been taken. Once the deputy arrived he noted in the report that flowers had been walked on near the two back windows where the thieves allegedly got in.

The woman did note that one her neighbors had seen a black four-door sedan parked near her house during that period of time, said the report.

Stoney Creek Road sheds broken into

Two storage sheds located on the 800 block of Stoney Creek Road were reported broken into between Sunday night and Monday morning, according to a substation report.

A 49-year-old Oakland Township resident contacted the Oakland Township Substation noting that he heard noises in the backyard around 11:15 p.m. on Sunday, but thought it was just animals, said the report. According to the report he woke the next morning to find that two sheds in the backyard had been broken into.

The report noted that one shed had its lock cut off, however nothing appeared to be taken from the yard. The second shed had a variety of tools and rechargeable batteries taken from the shed,  and entry appeared to have been through the side window, the report said.

Trampolines, light fixtures, signs and more damaged

• An Oakland Township woman residing on the 4000 block of Calumet reported that someone had damaged various light fixtures and other items on her property Saturday morning. In the report it notes that three light fixtures on the side of her garage, 12 solar powered landscape lights and a trampoline were all damaged. The woman also reported that a plastic toy chest had been tipped over, leaving contents sprinkled across her lawn. A brick address sign and her patio furniture had been turned over, said the report, and the trampoline was also turned upside down.
• Another substation report noted that another trampoline on the 4000 block of Calumet had been damaged on Saturday morning. The Oakland Township woman who reported the incident said that the trampoline had been in her backyard and someone moved it to the front yard and bent the frame, according to the report.
• An Alpine Academy employee flagged down a deputy on Saturday morning to report that there was a damaged mailbox and damaged signs at the corner of Holly Lane and Gunn roads, said a report. The report noted that two stop signs at the corner appeared to have been driven over.
