Baker College’s Auburn Hills campus to host BPA Regional Leadership Conference Jan. 13
Approximately 480 students from 16 area high schools and career centers will compete.

Baker College’s Auburn Hills campus will host the Business Professionals of America (BPA) Regional Leadership Conference Friday, Jan. 13. Competitions start at 8:30 a.m. and run throughout the day. The awards ceremony is expected to conclude at 4 p.m.
Approximately 480 area high school BPA student members will participate in the event, competing for regional awards in more than 50 categories under five primary classifications: finance, business administration, management information systems, digital communication and design, and management, marketing and communications.
“BPA Regional Leadership Conferences are a jumping off point for Michigan high school students who want to test the skills they have gained toward becoming business and civic leaders,” said Peter W. Karsten, Ph.D., CPA, Baker College of Auburn Hills president. “We are honored to help BPA fulfill its commitment to helping young people grow and mature in ways that benefit them, their communities and our country.”

Participating schools are Anchor Bay High School, Armada High School, Chippewa Valley High School, Dakota High School, Fraser High School, Hazel Park High School, New Haven High School, Oakland Schools Technical Campus S.E., Rochester High School, Rochester Hills Adams High School, Rochester Hills Stoney Creek High School, Romeo Engineering & Technology Center, Troy Athens High School, Troy Early Career Academy, Warren Career Preparation Center and Waterford Kettering High School.
In the event of postponement due to inclement weather, the snow date is Friday, Jan. 20.

Finalists are eligible to attend the 45th State Leadership Conference, March 16-19, in Grand Rapids. Finalists there are eligible to attend the National Leadership Conference, May 10-14, in Orlando, Florida.
Business Professionals of America is a national career and technical student organization with more than 2,700 chapters and 50,000 members in 25 states. The Michigan BPA has approximately 170 local chapters in 10 regions and approximately 4,600 members.
The BPA mission is to contribute to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills.
