Best Time Of The Year!
Pumpkin lattes - pumpkin bagels - and lots of doughnuts and cider!
Best Time Of The Year!
It’s darker in the mornings and the sun sets early in the evening. Yes, it is now Autumn one of the most delightful times of the year in my estimation. Here’s what makes it so special:
Trees are changing colors and thousands of travelers will make a trip to the northern part of Michigan to see the beautiful leaves and foliage.

Stores have an abundance of pumpkins on display. Heck, our local Sam’s has pumpkins so large that it takes two people to load future jack-o-lanterns in the car.
Children are already planning their costumes for trick and treating. Party stores are well stocked with super hero costumes. Wonder what the favorite will be this season?

Cider mills are open providing tasty doughnuts and delicious apple cider. And many of the cider mills have haunted houses some so exquisite and complicated that fees up to $35 for the tour is not uncommon.
And if you are a sports fan there is lot to watch or games to attend. Baseball is in full play as teams vie for the “wild card” or division championship. Then the playoffs will begin which will take us into the latter part of October and maybe even the first week of November for the World Series.
College football is in full swing and here in Michigan we have many teams garnering our attention. And I’m told that there is even a college team in Ohio.
Let’s not forget professional football. And if you have “red zone” on your cable provider you can watch snippets of the games all day Sunday!
And who cannot enjoy Thanksgiving! If you are a Cracker Barrel fan you can dine on a full meal for less than $10. We have never participated in the feast but I’m told that it is very popular. Every Thursday at Cracker Barrel the special is the turkey plate. Just had it and there is plenty of food for $5.99!
Lots of running races this time of the year and I’m participating in one of my favorites in November – the Roseville Big Bird Run. This will be the 38th year of the event and I have only missed a couple of the runs. Last year I finished third in my age group and my plan this year is to finish first.
Coffee shops now have spiced pumpkin lattes and of course pumpkin bagels. Yes, I realize that the pumpkin lattes are fattening but that is why I run in races and exercise every day!
Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan will celebrate Autumn with a pumpkin extravaganza! The trails and roads in The Village will be decorated with hundreds of carved pumpkins. And at night all the pumpkins will be illuminated.
So hopefully I provided you with lots of suggestions to enjoy this time of the year. And just maybe we may bump into each other at Cracker Barrel or maybe Panera where I will be enjoying a pumpkin latte! See you then!
