College Scholarship Cash

Find out what's happening in Oakland Township-Lake Orionfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

The “Stock
to Scholarship Challenge” provides Macomb, Oakland and Wayne County high school
students an opportunity to learn about personal finance while managing their
own stock portfolio. College scholarship money is awarded to the three students
who accumulate the most money in their individual accounts.

Here’s how it works:

Each student is given access to an online personal stock market account seeded with $100,000 in “play money” to purchase stocks. The participants can trade stocks from their portfolio at will. The goal is to amass more money than the other contestants.

Participants have a chance to

win scholarships to the college or university of their choice. One first place

winner will receive $5,000, one (1) second place winner will receive $2,000 and
one (1) third place winner will receive $1,000. Winners will have amassed the
greatest wealth in their investment accounts. Contestant winners will be
announced in May, 2014.

Student registration is open

now until February 17, 2014. The
contest begins on February 18, 2014 and ends
on April 25, 2014.To request register
materials, please email us at:stocktoscholarshipchallenge@yahoo.com

Complete contest rules will

be sent to every registered participant. To learn more visit:  http://www.facebook.com/stocktoscholarshipchallenge

“It’s never too early to learn about the global marketplace. I have spent my career teaching retirees
and investors how to grow their savings. Helping high school students learn
about managing their money will provide benefits that can last a lifetime,”
said Kevin VanDyke, Founder and President Bloomfield Hills Financial.

Bloomfield Hills Financial is an award winning

independent financial advisory firm located at 200 E. Long Lake Rd., Suite 170 Bloomfield
Hills. BARRON’S® recognizes Kevin VanDyke as on of Michigan’s Top Three
