The 40th annual SOCK (Support Our Capuchin Kitchen) dinner will take place Friday, Oct. 19, at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center at 6 p.m. with an afterglow event, "Second Helping," from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Tickets for SOCK are $250 and include dinner, open bar, silent auction and program. The party continues at the afterglow with live entertainment by Boogie Dynamite. Those interested in only attending the afterglow may purchase a ticket for $50, which includes two drinks, a dessert bar, a coffee bar and entertainment. Founded in 1929, the Capuchin Soup Kitchen serves metro Detroit by providing food, clothing and spiritual counsel to those in need. Preparing and frequently serving more than 2,000 meals a day, the Capuchin Soup Kitchen also distributes clothing, household items and operates a shower program, food pantry and children’s tutoring and art therapy program. Additionally, its Earthworks Urban Farm produces vegetables for Detroit’s hungry and educates the community in regards to sustainable relationships between human beings and the earth.
