Community Corner

Go Outside the Lines with the Orion Library

Monday, September 11 through Saturday, September 16

The Orion Township Public Library invites the Orion Community to experience the library in a whole new way! Outside the Lines is a global initiative designed to celebrate the creativity and innovation happening in libraries. From September 10-16, 2017, organizations from across the world will host events and campaigns designed to get people thinking – and talking – about libraries in a whole new way.

“We will be having a variety of events and programs during the week,” said Karen Knox, library director. “We are excited to be out in the community with our new Bookbike talking to residents and signing up new patrons for library cards, and of course, handing out library freebies!”

In addition, students who visit the library September 11 through September 16 will receive a FREE flag or sticker in celebration of Patroit Week (while supplies last.)

Outside the Lines is an R-Squared initiative designed by Colorado library marketers and directors that gets libraries “walking the walk” – taking action to show our communities how important libraries are and how they’ve changed. This celebration takes many of the concepts discussed at R-Squared – The Risk & Reward Conference, such as creativity, customer curiosity, culture, community and creative spaces, and puts them into action where they count – in our local communities. Learn more at getoutsidethelines.org.

For more information about the Outside the Lines program at the OTPL contact Becky Bolin, community relations coordinator, at 248.693.3000 x339 or bbolin@orionlibrary.org, or visit the Orion Township Public Library at 825 Joslyn Road, Lake Orion, MI 48362. The library is open 9:30a-9:00p Monday through Thursday and 9:30a-5:00p Friday and Saturday.
